The movie "100 steps" follows a man named Peppino who was born into a mafia family. Because of this he automatically gets protection. When his Uncle dies due to violence within the mafia, it opens Peppino's eyes into how dangerous and wrong it is. Using his protection, he forms protests; protests in which he tries to open the eyes of Sicily that the mafia is not needed and needs to be gone. Unlike his father, Peppino never listens to the advice of others to try to stay safe. All Peppino says just puts him in more danger. Tano, the head of the mafia, gives him many warnings to put an end to his protests. Although Tano and Peppino seemed completely different from one another, they were alike in many ways. Both of them were set with their views and didn't try to see the other's side. Tano was the head of the mafia, so of course he used violence to gain power and respect. He also earned a lot of money, therefore could afford a lot of nice things. Peppino gained power and respect from the citizens of Cinici through protesting against the mafia. He didn't care that he was talking bad about his family or Tano, as long as he tried to wake up the people of Cinici. Peppino was rich with the friends by his side who stuck with him no matter what, which is something money couldn't buy. Both men had people who cared for them, respected them, but in the end had people constantly out for them. Whether they were on the same political side or not, they were very similar.
