I liked this movie, I thought the message behind it portrayed a good message. When watching this movie, you see the effect that phones and social media have on our everyday lives. Our phones have become such personal objects the idea of someone else looking at them, makes you feel vulnerable. This is shown throughout the movie as it is revealed that everybody has their problems/secrets and it is all piled on their phones. The characters are not very aware of themselves, and through the game, their secrets are revealed one by one. When looking at the end of the movie. I normally do not like movies that end up being "imagination" or it was all a "dream". However, this one I did not mind the ending. I think it shows how blind we have become to the real world and we are surrounded by constant lies. Those lies continue until you are called out or caught for them.
The symbolism of the moon had two parts to it. The first thing I noticed was that there are two parts to a solar eclipse, the moon and the sun. Just like there are two parts to everybody. There is the person that everybody around you sees, it is how you are perceived by the world around you. The second is the person you are within or the person you are only around a limited amount of people. The second way I saw the moon being a symbol, is the closer it became to an eclipse, the higher the tensions of the phone game rose. The myth behind the solar eclipse is that it can have an effect on humans and how they behave. As the movie progresses we see the characters become more and more on edge as their secrets are being revealed. Towards the beginning, the secrets being revealed were more light, such as Rocco going to therapy. Then as the night progresses and the eclipse gets closer, the secrets of covered-up relationships and other scandals. I thought this was a really interesting way to pace the movie through a symbol. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie despite it being a little slow at the beginning.
