I thought this movie was very well done. It had me thinking the whole time about the deeper messages portrayed. One of them was how little we know about our friends and those around us. Through the whole movie we see secrets being revealed from every person, whether that was about them cheating or that they bought condoms for their daughter. As I watched I saw how unstable each person was once they got their secret revealed and how much it hurt their significant other or their friend. It also hurt them when they lied to try to get out of it to save themselves from the argument. Many of the lies caused huge problems between the friends and their significant others, which is why many were hesitant when the game was introduced.
When the movie was coming to an end, I was confused why everyone seemed to ignore the arguments made during dinner and the shocking secrets revealed until a comment was made during our discussion that the whole movie was based on a "what if?" scenario. Since many had secrets they didn't want to tell the others about, it would make sense that the movie was showing the worries the couples had if they had played the game. I do think it is better that the secrets and lies were not revealed or attempted to be covered up with more lies, but instead wasn't brought up and the friends could enjoy their night.
The eclipse seemed pretty important to me in that it symbolized the chaos that would ensue. When the moon was nearing the eclipse, suspicions were brought up about lies, and when the eclipse was happening, everything was going horribly wrong; and yet when the moon was full again after the eclipse, nothing was wrong and everyone was perfectly happy and fine. Overall I would watch this movie again and recommend it to others.
