Perfect Strangers was an eye opening film for me. I knew that phones had the potential to be bad and kept secrets, but this film really put it into perspective of how damaging they could be. Trust is definitely important in a relationship, especially if it's a romantic one. If there are two people in a monogamous relationship, I think each person has the right to know about each person in the other person’s life. They don’t necessarily need to say everything that is personal and private that is meant to be kept only between the two, but I believe that the other person should know the basic information like who the person is and how their significant other knows them. Phones keep a lot of personal information, and I feel like there should be openness between a couple about what is on their phone with respect. I think it should be okay for passcodes to be shared and for the other person to look through most things, but the person looking should be respectful such as asking if they can borrow their phone and not look at things that the person has requested them not to look at.
I was interested in the role of the eclipse in this movie. As the eclipse progressed and the moon got darker, the secrets started getting deeper and more revealing. However, once the moon was full again, everyone was happy and doing their own thing and acting like nothing happened. I've never really believed in the moon having an effect on people, but maybe it's true. I was mostly surprised by Cosimo and Bianca. Even after Bianca found out that Cosimo got a woman pregnant, she still drove home with him and even pretended like she was just a coworker asking him to take a shift or something like that. I wonder that if this mover was to continue, what the couples would do. A part of me feels like they would turn a blind eye towards the affairs, but also another part of me feels like they would break up or try to do things to fix their broken relationships. The two main things that I felt were really important from the film were that the phones hold so many secrets and things that could just rip everyone apart, and that people must learn how to leave each other if their relationship cannot handle it. People will just end up getting hurt in the end more if they cannot leave each other. I would recommend this film to everyone because of its messages, and I like the intertwining plots and secrets. I would rate this film a 9/10.
