Perfect strangers - Marwa

"Perfect Strangers" is a great film that perfectly blends different elements to create thought-provoking stories. The use of jazz music to highlight tension in some scenes adds a layer of elegance, increasing the emotion associated with important moments. The darker the eclipse got, the more secrets were revealed, creating a sense of suspense that kept viewers engaged throughout the movie.

Rocco's character is portrayed as the wise and loyal friend/partner, adding depth to the exploration of loyalty and trust in friendships and relationships. The film is an exploration of Italy's intricate culture, capturing the importance of hand gestures, reactions and social norms with perfect accuracy. The idea of questioning bonds caused by hidden truths is observed in Cosimo's reaction to Lele's (originally Pepe's) sexuality revelation, presents thought-provoking questions about the limits of trust in interpersonal relationships and norms embedded within Italian culture.

The main themes of loyalty, respect, and the limits of trust in friendships and relationships are perfectly explored throughout the film. The ending, in which some characters choose complete ignorance over shocking facts, reinforces the idea that setting boundaries and communicating effectively are essential for maintaining healthy relationships. The film also delves into the hardships of parenting as Rocco and Eva navigate their daughter's transition into a new phase of her teenage life and relationship with her boyfriend. While Eva takes a more strict and firm approach, Rocco leans towards a mutual understanding and respects her decisions.

Peppe's character plays an important role in bringing up the principles of acceptance and respect, highlighting how opposing opinions and values can break relationships. The film encourages viewers to consider the fragility of relationships and the significance of understanding and accepting opposing viewpoints. "Perfect Strangers" is a thought-provoking examination of human connections, loyalty, and the complexity that comes when confronted with difficult truths.

To sum up, I really like this film as it stands out as a thought-provoking and realistic picture about the delicate strings of human connections. From the use of jazz music to the revealing of secrets under the dark eclipse, the film smoothly navigates the difficulties of trust, loyalty, and respect. The depiction of Italian culture gives a realistic element to the story, capturing the nuances of gestures, reactions, and social expectations.
