I thought the movie was not bad. It definitely was not my favorite of the films we have watched in class, but it also was not the worst we have watched. I don't have many complaints about the movie. One smaller complaint was the characters and their names. I personally had a hard time keeping track of who was who, and it just made the movie overall a little more confusing. My other main complaint is that the movie got a little boring at parts. It had some cute/funny moments leading up to the big climactic drama, but it's really hard to keep a movie interesting when there is just one location being used the entire time. It's not impossible, but this movie didn't have enough depth to captivate me the entire time. One thing I really liked about the movie was the symbolism of the eclipse happening. All the drama slowly built up at the same time the eclipse was happening, and both reached their apex at the same time. Another thing I liked about the film was the characters. Even though I found it hard to remember all the names, I still think that most of the characters were very interesting. There were some good plot twists with some of the phone calls in the latter parts of the movie. The characters also had good reactions to these twists, which further helped make them more engaging/interesting in my mind. Overall, the movie was good and I had no major problems with it. It works well as both a drama and an Italian film. I think the film provides good insight into Italy's interpersonal culture as well as Italy's relationship culture. It is definitely a movie I would recommend to friends if they are interested in learning more about Italy.
