Smetto Quando Voglio

The movie Smetto Quando Voglio focuses a lot on comedy as a whole. Comedy is used as a way to educate viewers on a topic while still keeping them engaged. In this particular movie drug use and money troubles were focused on, which is a real and important issue going on in Italy and around the world. By using comedy, the viewers can learn about drug use and the bad habits that come along with it. When Alberto continually used the drug, his whole personality changed from what it once was, making aware of the dangers of addiction but also making light of the situation because of some of his actions. When Alberto was using the drug he found a Russian girl named Paprika. Paprika only spoke Russian, so when they tried to communicate it was only by yelling with a language barrier. Since Alberto had lots of money to use, he kept around Paprika, so when she yelled he would get scared and listen, which was made fun of throughout the film. With Alberto and Paprika, we see realistic outcomes for drug use and drug sales, but in a comedic light. The gang itself is not very scary or threatening, so moments like when they rob a pharmacy or when the one member had to marry a woman he didn't want to, the movie was comedic and not sad or depressing.
