When watching the movie Smetto Quando Voglio, is a harsh real-life situation due that is relieved through comedy. I think this movie did a great job highlighting a real problem within Italian society. This movie specifically shows the problems and inequalities in the Italian education system. For example, after Pietro's exam, he is told his theory is way too complex and those grading him cannot understand, so they end up giving the other guy the long-term contract. Now he was left without a real teaching job and having to find a way to make money to support his family. It shows those who go to many years of college and graduate with their doctorates end up lacking the ability to get a good job related to their field. It causes many to flee to other countries in hopes of better opportunities. In addition, it shows the lack of opportunity and growth for people in Italy who are intelligent. The way the director made this film was to show a group of individuals who were wronged by the system, but still have the intellectual capabilities to make a difference. Although their difference was a negative one, to make ends meet with money. One of the biggest comedic spins on the movie was the characters being extremely book smart but being contrasted by the lack of common sense and street smarts. This is shown when they all get a little bit of money, they start buying houses and women instead of thinking about their future and saving the money. This movie shows that the poor education system does a bad job of placing people with meaningful jobs. Which then causes people to be persuaded by money and do whatever means necessary to make ends meet.
